Holocaust Memorial Day 2026

Holocaust Memorial Day 2026

I recently signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment in Parliament, and in doing so pledged to remember the six million Jewish people who were murdered in the Holocaust and speak out against antisemitism, which in recent months has risen exponentially and needs to be tackled head on.

Holocaust Memorial Day falls on the 27th of January, marking the anniversary of the liberation of the former Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau. Across the world, and of course, in East Renfrewshire, people come together to commemorate the liberation of concentration camps and to remember the Holocaust and its victims.

Each year, there are less survivors to help educate us on the horrors with their firsthand accounts, which means unquestionably the responsibility falls on us and the next generation to ensure the the Holocaust is never forgotten.
